Murdered fashion designer GIANNI VERSACE called his female clients 'sluts', according to rival GIORGIO ARMANI.
Versace, whose clients included DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES, MADONNA, DEMI MOORE, COURTNEY LOVE and ELIZABETH HURLEY - whose rise to fame was heralded by a slinky Versace creation held together by safety pins - was murdered in July 1997.
DONATELLA VERSACE, who took over the label after her brother's tragic death, is said to be "beside herself with rage" at the comments the rival designer made to VANITY FAIR magazine.
Armani, who dresses MICHELLE PFEIFFER, SHARON STONE, SOPHIA LOREN and GWYNETH PALTROW, claims that Versace said to him, "You know something, Giorgio? - you dress elegant women, you dress sophisticated women. I dress sluts."
