Berry: I felt 'obliged' to X-Men.

Halle Berry has revealed she had no doubts about reprising her X-Men role, because she "felt an obligation" to the series.

The Oscar-winning actress returns to play Storm in sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014), which comes eight years after X-Men: The Last Stand.

"We all felt it had had its run, and it was time to move on," she told Empire.

But when director Bryan Singer called, she immediately said yes. The 47-year-old added: "I felt an obligation to the series and to my peers."

Halle's former co-stars Hugh Jackman, Sir Patrick Stewart, Sir Ian McKellen and Ellen Page also reprise their roles in the superhero sequel, which sees them starring alongside the new generation of X-Men such as James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence.

"I loved meeting Jennifer. I got to spend some time talking to her. I really enjoyed that," she said of meeting the actress, who plays the young Mystique.

She admitted Oscar talk didn't crop up in conversation: "Oh God, no. Luckily none of us are a******* and go around talking about Academy Awards, thankfully."

Halle hinted her pregnancy may have affected her role, saying: "I became pregnant in the process of scheduling, so I had to shoot the movie before it became apparent. I think my role was impacted because of the pregnancy."

X-Men: Days Of Future Past will be released on May 22.
