Was Willis canned from Expendables 3 over $1 million-a-day demand?

Yesterday Sylvester Stallone unceremoniously canned Bruce Willis from 'The Expendables 3' with a withering tweet.

Today, we may have discovered just why the 'Rocky' star cut him loose from his star-studded sequel.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Willis had some pretty hefty wage figures in mind – a sturdy $1 million (£645,000) for every day he was on set, $1 million more than he was being offered for the Bulgarian shoot.

A source close to the production told the most reputable magazine: "He said he'd drop out unless he got $4 million."

"A million dollars a day. Stallone and everybody else involved said no."

Harrison Ford was then quickly drafted in by Sly, though considering Willis played the character of Church in the first two films, most likely not to fill Willis's role as such.

"I think Willis was pretty surprised he was replaced in 72 hours by Harrison Ford? A better actor, a much nicer person and a more interesting direction for the film," the source added.

So far Willis's people have not responded to the claims.

Sly did the deed before announcing it on Twitter – and branding Willis 'greedy and lazy' while he was at it.
