Date: 2nd April 2013
A sequel to 'G.I. Joe: Retaliation' is now in the works, thanks to a sturdy opening weekend for the Dwayne Johnson-fronted actioner.
It will be a third film in the 'G.I. Joe' series from Paramount and toy company Hasbro, though new co-star Channing Tatum is not thought to be returning for a second bout.
It made an extremely solid $132 million worldwide - $57.4 million in the US alone – over the weekend, making the sequel a safer bet.
The film had encountered problems along the way, incurring reshoots and production delays, but has overcome the issues with the box office take.
It's not yet known who will be returning for the next film.
'Retaliation' features Johnson and Tatum alongside Bruce Willis, Jonathan Pryce, playing the President of the United States.
