Shrek Storms British Box Office
Animated comedy SHREK (2001) has stormed straight to the top of the British box office.
The movie, which stars the voices of MIKE MYERS, CAMERON DIAZ and EDDIE MURPHY, made a whopping $6. 4 million (£4. 9 million) on its first full weekend (23-24JUN01) on release in the country, knocking DAVID DUCHOVNY's spoof comedy EVOLUTION (2001) off the top spot.
Further down the list, WORLD WAR II epic PEARL HARBOR (2001) has now made more than $15. 4 million (£11 million) in Britain, while BRIDGET JONES'S DIARY (2001) is just short of reaching a massive $56 million (£40 million) since its release in April (01). (LE/WNWCAN/KW)
