Dave Bautista, Jason Momoa to Team for 'Wrecking Crew' From 'Blue Beetle' Director.

Blue Beetle Director Ángel Manuel Soto is following up his DC duties by directing superhero alumni Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa in their buddy action movie The Wrecking Crew.

Plot details are under wraps for now, but Bautista and Momoa sold the pitch to MGM following a four-bidder battle in the fall 2021.

The Wrecking Crew will star Aquaman's Jason Momoa and Guardians of the Galaxy's Dave Bautista in what was described as a "buddy action movie" by The Wrap. The Wrecking Crew was penned by Jonathan Tropper (Warrior, The Adam Project) prior to the WGA strikes. MGM will produce the film after winning a reportedly 4-way bidding war.

Momoa and Bautista have already appeared together on-screen, opposing each other in Dune as Duncan Idaho and antagonist Glossu Rabban respectively. They also collaborated on See, executively produced by Tropper, with Momoa praising Tropper's flexibility and affording him opportunities he'd never had before.

Bautista has been seen this year in M. Night Shyamalan’s Knock at the Cabin, as well as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which brought his time in the MCU as Drax the Destroyer to a close. Also part of the ensemble of Brittany Snow’s directorial debut Parachute, which premiered at SXSW this year, the actor also appears in Dune: Part Two, which is dated for November 3.

Momoa played the villain Dante in Uni’s Fast X and next will be seen in Warner Bros’ long-awaited sequel Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which surfaces on December 20. His other upcoming projects include Apple TV+’s historical drama series Chief of War, Warner Bros’ Minecraft and Legendary’s hybrid live-action/animated feature Animal Friends.
