Melanie Griffith has confessed she has found ageing in Hollywood "scary and humiliating".
The 48-year-old actress, who started acting at the age of 18 in 1975 film 'Night Moves', admits she has struggled to find work since turning 40.
She revealed: "It is weird to have been working in this business for 32 years and not get the jobs you used to get, or even the interviews and the scripts.
"It is scary, sad, humiliating and weird."
The blonde beauty, who is married to actor Antonio Banderas, has branded Hollywood's obsession with age as "sad".
She said: "It is unfortunate that we get better as we get older - we get more interesting. It is sad that whoever it is just wants to see a 20-year-old woman's face as opposed to a 40- or 50-year-old woman's heart, essence and brains."
Melanie claims Meryl Streep is the only actress over 40 who doesn't find it difficult getting work in Hollywood.
The actress added in an interview with America's 'Entertainment Tonight' TV show: "Unless you are Meryl Streep, there are not a lot of opportunities for women in their 40s."
