Movie hunk EWAN McGREGOR has been awarded an honorary degree by an Irish university - making him Dr McGregor.

The Scottish actor, who left school aged 16, was named a DOCTOR OF LETTERS by the UNIVERSITY OF ULSTER in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

He says, "It's fantastic. I can't believe I'm Dr McGregor. All my
friends will have to call me doctor now."

The 29-year-old Moulin Rouge (2001) actor recently produced and starred in a film about NORA BARNACLE, the wife of famed Irish author JAMES JOYCE. (MCM/WNTRE/RP)
