Guy's Snatch Is A Big Hit At American Box Office
GUY RITCHIE'S gangster smash SNATCH is taking America by storm - pulling in over £6million ($9m) in its opening weekend (begs20JAN01).
The movie, starring Hollywood hunk BRAD PITT, won good reviews after it opened in 1,444 cinemas. While ROGER EBERT, one of America's top critics, said the dialogue sounded like "missing chapters of FINNEGAN'S WAKE", the NEW YORK TIMES newspaper said Ritchie had flair and an "entertaining swagger."
Guy, who is married to pop queen MADONNA, grossed £75 million ($120m) with his first film, LOCK, STOCK AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS.
Snatch has already taken £15 million ($24m) in Britain and millions more in the rest of the world. (RP/WNBTE/PDD)
