Downey Jr agrees more Avengers movies.

Robert Downey Jr is set to reprise his role as Iron Man for two more Avengers films.

The US actor has officially signed a deal to return as entrepreneurial billionaire and genius inventor Tony Stark and his superhero alter-ego for the upcoming sequels, said The Hollywood Reporter.

Under the two picture agreement, Robert will star in both Marvel follow-ups of Avengers 2 and 3.

He would join co-stars Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Samuel L Jackson and Mark Ruffalo, although Tom Hiddleston will not be returning as Loki.

Joss Whedon is back to write and direct the sequel to Avengers Assemble, which was the top grossing film of 2012. The sequel is expected to start shooting in March 2014, for a release in May 2015.

Robert has starred as Tony Stark since the first Iron Man film in 2008, and went on to reprise the role in the two sequels: Iron Man 2 and Iron Man 3.

There had been doubts about whether the 48-year-old would be back in the metal suit after he fulfilled his contract obligations for the three Iron Man movies.

The third film has become the most successful Iron Man film and the fifth-highest grossing film of all time globally, earning 1.2 billion US dollars worldwide to date.
