The biggest battle of the OSCARS this year is set to be over who dresses JULIA ROBERTS.
Designers such as VERSACE, ARMANI, CALVIN KLEIN and PRADA are desperate to woo Julia, tipped to win Best Actress, with free clothes.
In fact, the ERIN BROCKOVICH (2000) star will be offered shoes, clothes and jewellery worth around $300,000 (£200,000). "With an audience of more than 250 million, the financial stakes are sky high and Julia is the crown jewel this year," says entertainment analyst HAL VOGEL.
Oscar fashion co-ordinator TERRI FOX adds, "There's no doubt the one woman every designer wants to dress this year is Julia Roberts. Two years ago GWYNETH PALTROW stole the show in her pink RALPH LAUREN dress and now it's Julia's turn."
It seems the only person keeping a cool head in all this is Julia herself. Her former agent ELAINE GOLDSMITH THOMAS, says "Julia likes everything fairly simple these days. It's a struggle to get her to use a stylist and let's face it, when you look like she does, you really don't have to try that hard, do you?" (KAB/WNSEX/KW)
