Lena Dunham to Direct Polly Pocket Movie Starring Lily Collins.

The controversial director has revealed that development on her upcoming Polly Pocket movie is still on track, with Lily Collins set to star.

With the recent success of the Barbie movie, Mattel is turning many of their iconic toys into movies. One movie that is currently in the works is based on the Polly Pocket toy line. This will star Lily Collins, known for her roles in Emily in Paris and Mank. It will be written and directed by Lena Dunham, who recently made movies like Sharp Stick and Catherine Called Birdy and created the TV show Girls.

Though less storied and controversial than Barbie, Polly Pocket has been a successful Mattel line since the 1980s, offering kids miniature rubber wardrobes that, much like Weird Barbie, were perfect for roughhousing. The brand has since spun off into several animated films, a web series, and an animated TV show.

Lily Collins, who starred with Sandra Bullock in biography drama The Blind Side (2009) and can currently be seen in Netflix's ongoing romantic-comedy drama series Emily in Paris, is set to star in the film in an undisclosed role, and is the only announced cast so far. Dunham, who has made some controversial headlines in recent years, has previously worked on films like Sharp Stick (2022) and Catherine Called Birdy (2022), along with her most well-known comedy-drama series Girls, which she created and starred in. She's now hopping on the Mattel train to bring Polly Pocket to life from the little heart-shaped dollhouse to the big screen
