Downton Abbey 3 Confirmed As "Final" Movie By Star.

Imelda Staunton reveals that plans are afoot for Downton Abbey 3, that might just be shooting before the end of the year.

The same cast and crew – including Hugh Bonneville, Jim Carter and Michelle Dockery – are expected to shoot at Highclere Castle in Hampshire this summer ahead of release in 2025.

While speaking in a recent interview, series star Imelda Staunton let slip that Downton Abbey 3 is in the works and that it will allegedly be the final film. Staunton, who plays Lady Bagshaw in the film series, was not authorized to reveal the film, and no one else involved has confirmed her claims yet. However, considering her closeness to the production, it is more than likely true. Staunton also revealed it will begin filming in May 2024, and conclude in July.

The new film will pick up after the events of 2022’s Downton Abbey: A New Era. That was the movie that explored the infancy of cinema against the backdrop of notable changes for the characters of the Very Posh House. There had been inevitable questions after the release of that as to whether a Downton Abbey 3 would happen, but now Imelda Staunton has let the cat out of the bag.
