Rebecca Ferguson has signed on to star opposite Chris Pratt in Mercy, the sci-fi thriller for Amazon MGM Studios.

Set in the near future when capital crime has increased, Mercy follows a detective (Pratt) who is accused of a violent crime and forced to prove his innocence.

Mercy will be helmed by Russian director Timur Bekmambetov, from a script by Marco van Belle. The studio has high hopes for the film's prospects; although many of their projects have gone straight to their Prime Video streaming wing, Mercy is slated for a wide theatrical release.

The movie provides a reunion for Pratt and Bekmambetov who worked on the 2008 film Wanted, which grossed $342 million at the box office and received an Oscar nomination. Bekmambetov stated, "Amazon is the ideal partner for telling this crucial story about the future challenged by artificial intelligence and for engaging in this conversation with a wide audience. I’m happy to reunite with Chris Pratt on this project, who, since the release of Wanted, has become one of the highest-grossing actors of our time. Collaborating with Chuck Roven will help us create an epic cinematic experience."

Ferguson can currently be seen as Lady Jessica in Denis Villeneuve's "Dune: Part Two" which just pulled in the biggt domestic opening of the year so far with $82 million.

She was most recently seen in "Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One" and is currently filming the second season of the Apple TV+ series “Silo”.
