Jennifer Garner is in negotiations to star opposite Matt Damon in the new Netflix crime thriller Animals, which is being directed by Ben Affleck.

Written by Connor McIntyrey, Animals follows "a mayoral candidate and his wife whose son is kidnapped. Surrounded by plenty of enemies, political and otherwise, the husband and wife have no choice but to get their hands dirty in order to save their son."

Affleck is directing the feature and is also producing with Damon via their Artists Equity banner, along with the company’s Dani Bernfeld. Also producing are Brad Weston and Collin Creighton via their MakeReady shingle.

Garner, who has shown her versatility via movies and series that span comedies to rom-coms to thriller, is a Netflix favorite, having starred or co-starred in the streamer’s hits Family Switch, The Adam Project, and Yes Day.

Garner and Affleck have appeared together in front of the camera in a trio of movies, all made before their marriage in 2005: 2001’s Pearl Harbor, 2003’s Daredevil, and that movie’s spinoff, Elektra, released in 2005. She has not yet, however, been directed by him.
