Ryan Reynolds and Channing Tatum will play brothers embroiled in a botched diamond heist in a new action-comedy from the directors of The Lost City.

The Nee brothers are writing the script and are directing. Reynolds and Tatum would star and produce via their respective banners, Maximum Effort and Free Association. Also producing is Kevin Walsh, who is currently in the awards season mix with Napoleon, as are the Nees via their banner Persons Attempting.

The report claims that nearly every studio is anxiously trying to get their hands on this film. Ludicrous numbers are being thrown out there to woo the filmmakers. Apparently, there is a studio willing to offer $50 for the two actors to split. Some say the overall package cost is roughly $175 million. So, in a year where we’ve seen major studios and streamers going to drastic lengths to cut costs, there’s still a major desire for this type of movie.

Calamity Hustle follows a down-on-his-luck former Los Angeles detective-turned-private investigator who, after being shaken down by a vicious crime lord, must track down his estranged brother who is responsible for interfering with a diamond heist.

Alongside Calamity Hustle, Ryan Reynolds and Channing Tatum could be seen together on the big screen in the upcoming MCU sequel, Deadpool 3. While nothing has been confirmed as yet, rumors have claimed that Tatum will finally suit up as the X-Men fan-favorite character, Gambit, following the actor’s ultimately canceled solo Gambit movie.
