Biography

Audrey Tautou starred in Venus Beauty Institute as Marie, and exceptionally beautiful young woman whose guileless innocence brings happiness to an enigmatic widower, a role which she was honored with a Cesar for Best Young Actress.

Tautou is currently shooting Amelie for director Jean Pierre Jeunet. Jeunet, whose past films include Alien: Resurrection, The City of Lost Children and Delicatessen, co-wrote the film with Guillaume Laurant. Tautou co-stars in Amelie with Mathieu Kassovitz, best known here for writing, directing and acting in the acclaimed film La Haine (Hate).

Following Venus Beauty Institute Tautou appeared in the romantic comedy Le Battement d’Aile du Papillon, or Happenstance, directed by Laurent Firode. She also appeared in Le Libertin (The Libertine) as part of an all-star cast including Vincent Perez, Fanny Ardant and Josiane Balasko, which was written and directed by Gabriel Aghion.
