Palmer West - Details

Biography

Palmer West began his career in high school as an actor, and received an Emmy nomination for his performance in the PBS film Looking for Lake Fairies, which he also co-wrote. He attended the University of Montana graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. West then moved to New York City, where he produced and financed Rob Schmidt's (Crime and Punishment in High School) first film entitled Saturn.

While in production, West teamed up with Jonah Smith, an executive producer on Saturn, to start Thousand Words, an independent production and financing company. Their first endeavor together was Requiem for a Dream. Thousand Words co-produced (under the name of Sibling Entertainment, the company Palmer started with his sister Paige West) and co-financed Requiem for a Dream with Artisan Entertainment.

West and Smith are currently producers on Richard Linklater's (Slacker, Dazed and Confused) latest project. Thousand Words is co-financing this project with the Independent Film Channel.
