Biography

ALEXANDER SIDDIG is a television cult star for his role as the doctor, Bashir, in the hit series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

Siddig was born in Sudan, North Africa, and raised in England since he was four years old. He studied geography and anthropology briefly at University College in London before attending the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts.
He helped set up a fringe theatre group and spent two years performing with it before securing a role in a six-part television drama, Big Battalions. This was followed by the movie A Dangerous Man, which led to an offer to move to Los Angeles in 1992 for Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. He spent seven seasons shooting 26 episodes a year of the cult favorite.

Siddig lives in Los Angeles with his wife, actress Nana Visitor (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine), and their two children.
