Biography

Recently directed on stage in London and Broadway by Sam Mendes in The Blue Room, starring opposite Nicole Kidman, Iain Glen’s extensive stage career includes the title role in Martin Guerre for which he received an Olivier nomination and Henry V for the Royal Shakespeare Company for which he received an Evening Standard nomination as Best Actor.

On television he has starred in two well-received costume drama series Wives and Daughters and the adaptation of J L Fanu’s gothic horror story The Wyvern Papers. He will next be seen in the contemporary romantic comedy series Glasgow Kiss.

In 1989 Glen won the Silver Bear Award at Berlin Film Festival for his leading role in David Hayman’s explosive drama Silent Scream, which also won a Scottish BAFTA Award and the Michael Powell Award. In 1990 his performance in Bob Rafelson’s Mountains of the Moon won him Best Actor Award at the Evening Standard Awards. Recent films include John Duigan’s Paranoid and Danny Cannon’s Young Americans.

Iain Glen trained at RADA where he was awarded the Bancroft Gold Medal in 1986.
