Biography

Born in Albacete in 1947. Studied Law at Madrid University.

Worked in television between 1969 and 1987, as director and documentary and news writer, then as director and writer of films. Between 1986 and 1989 was associate professor at the Official School of Cinematography of Salamanca. Since 1987, has worked exclusively in the cinema.

His most outstanding films include El Túnel, Total y Mala racha (all for television) Pares y Nones, El Bosque Animado, Armanece que no es poco, La viuda del Capitán Estrada, La Marrana, Tocando Fondo and Así en el cielo como en la tierra.

The first film he produced was Thesis, which won no less then 7 Goyas (among them Best Film), and has since produced Open Your Eyes, by the same director, Alejandro Amenábar, which has been an enormous box office success, taking just under 8 million dollars in Spain alone, apart from being screened at festivals such as Sundance, Berlin, Manchester and Popcorn (Stockholm).
