Born in New York and raised in Columbus, Ohio, Martinez' first composing job was for an episode of "Pee Wee's Playhouse," joining the ranks of such renowned composers as Danny Elfman, Mark Mothersbaugh, Todd Rundgren, and Stanley Clarke. His film scores include Allan Moyle's "Pump Up the Volume," Daniel Taplitz' Showtime telefilm "Black Magic," and Michael Steinberg's independent feature "Wicked."
Martinez began playing drums for rock bands at a young age. He has recorded and worked with Captain Beefheart, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Dickies, and The Weirdos, among others.
