Steven Bauer - Details

Biography

Exiled in 1960 (at the age of 3) with his parents and younger brother from their native Cuba, Bauer and his family arrived in Miami. He attended public schools and the University of Miami, where he studied theater. After local successes in Miami, which included a starring role in the PBS sitcom Que Pasa USA?, Bauer went to Hollywood.

There, he guest-starred on such series as CBS’ One Day at a Time” and NBC’s The Rockford Files and Hill Street Blues; and starred on the NBC series From Here to Eternity. His subsequent television work has included starring roles in the HBO telefilm Sword of Gideon” (directed by Michael Anderson) and the NBC miniseries Drug Wars: The Camarena Story (directed by Brian Gibson, and for which Bauer received his second Golden Globe Award nomination). He also starred in the final season of CBS’ Wiseguy.

His theatrical credits include the off-Broadway production of Balm and Gilead (directed by John Malkovich); and Bent, directed by David Marshall Grant, at the Coast Playhouse.
