Niamh Cusack - Details

Biography

Niamh Cusack was born in Dublin and her performing life began as a flautist freelancing with the RTE Symphony and Concert Orchestras.

Prior to her film work in Ireland, Cusack performed in Nabakov’s Gloves at the Hampstead Theatre and spent two seasons at the Royal Shakespeare Company, where she played Rosalind in As You Like It, Desdemona in Othello opposite Ben Kingsley and David Suchet and Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, directed by Michael Bogdanov.

Other theater work includes A Doll’s House, A Woman of No Importance” and The Three Sisters at the Gate Theatre in Dublin; Indian Ink by Tom Stoppard at the West End; Playboy of the Western World at West Yorkshire Playhouse; The Plough and The Stars at The Young Vic and The Phoenix at The Bush Theatre.

Cusack is best known from the popular television series Heartbeat. Additional television credits include Jeeves and Wooster, Till We Meet Again and Fools of Fortune.

Her film work include Paris By Night, written and directed by David Hare and Shadow Under The Sun, directed by Tony Richardson.
