Anna Faris and Mexican star Eugenio Derbez will topline Overboard, MGM’s remake of the 1980s comedy.

Pantelion Films, the joint venture between Lionsgate and Grupo Televisa, and 3Pas Studios are also behind the project.

Rob Greenberg and Bob Fisher co-wrote and are co-directing the comedy, which is hoisting sails for a May production start in Vancouver.

The original 1987 movie, directed by Garry Marshall, starred Goldie Hawn as a mean and rich heiress with amnesia and Kurt Russell as a carpenter on her yacht who slyly convinces her that they are husband and wife.
