Why Farrah Wouldn't Strip

Actress FARRAH FAWCETT would not have stripped for the lead in BASIC INSTINCT - even if she had been offered $15 million (£10 million).

Her agent asked if she wanted to see the raunchy Basic Instinct script, but warned her what the part would involve. Farrah says he told her, "'You have to be nude, full frontal and do love scenes in the nude. I just immediately said 'no'. "I hear actresses are getting paid $15 million (to strip), but that sort of money would not have influenced me."

But Farrah has taken off her clothes for her part in ROBERT ALTMAN's new film DR T AND THE WOMEN, in which she plays RICHARD GERE's mentally ill wife. She says, "
This was different. It made sense. The woman I play is vulnerable and suffering and as it is Robert Altman, we are talking taste and style and credibility. "The woman I play has a breakdown in a shopping mall and takes her clothes off." She adds, "I think a lot of women will know how she feels though she is on the edge. But seriously, I'd do almost anything to work with Robert Altman." (RGS/WNWCAN/CPT)
