Hollywood funnyman JIM CARREY has been given some "heavyweight" support in his new movie THE BIJOU - with both MARTIN LANDAU and ALLAN GARFIELD joining the line-up.
FRANK DARABONT, who wrote THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, THE GREEN MILE and SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, will direct the $60 million (£40 million) comedy drama, which is due to start filming in February (01).
The story, written by Darabont, stars Carrey as a black listed writer who loses his memory after a car accident and finds a new home in a small town where he is mistaken for a soldier who died in combat. Landau, who won an Oscar for his portrayal of BELA LUGOSI in ED WOOD, plays the local hero's father while Garfield - the police top dog in BEVERLY HILLS COPS II - is Carrey's confused literary agent.
