Has Hugh Jackman been offered $100m to return as Wolverine?

Hugh Jackman has reportedly been offered a huge $100 million contract to return as Wolverine.

But the Australian actor may turn it down so that he can return to more serious film roles.

He recently reprised the role of Logan in 'The Wolverine,' and he will also appear as the character in Bryan Singer's 'X-Men: Days of Future Past,' which is due out next summer.

Fox are hoping to sign Jackman up for four more films as Wolverine, and now the National Enquirer is reporting that they're willing to pay him $100 million to do so.

Seems like a no brainer, doesn't it? I mean, $100 million is quite the chunk of change and Wolverine is not only one of the most popular characters in modern cinema, but he is cool as funk too.

However, Jackman is apparently torn, and he is contemplating turning down their astronomical offer because he wants to star in more serious roles.

He also doesn't want to be locked into another multi-picture deal, just like his previous 'X-Men' contract, which could scupper his attempts to star in other films and typecast him as an actor.

So far this summer Jackman has been rather indecisive regarding his future with the franchise.

In some interviews he has been hesitant about returning, telling Entertainment Weekly last month, "I won't say never, because I'm still loving it. But there would have to be a pretty compelling reason."

But then around the same time, ComicBook.com reported that he also told Fandango, "I'm enjoying it more than ever ….They are going to have to pry this role out of my hands … trust me … or the claws."

Either way, Jackman has been a loyal servant to the character, and is still as popular as ever, so if he does depart, his exit will be tinged with sadness.
