Michael Bay to bring Ghost Recon to the big screen.

Michael Bay's next project is to bring the 'Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon' video game series to the big screen.

Bay, who is currently helming 'Transformers 4', is developing the project for Warner Bros, and may also direct the project.

It is also being viewed as a potential franchise for the studio.

Ubisoft, the developer behind the game, said it wanted Bay in charge of the property 'because he is a master at action movies'.

The vastly successful game series has sold 24 million copies over the space of nine titles since it launched in 2001, with the latest instalment 'Ghost Recon: Future Soldier' emerging in 2012.

It follows an secret US Special Forces team that act as the president's private army, taking out targets without detection.

It's the latest in a rash of new video game adaptations in the works.

Michael Fassbender is set to lead a big screen version of 'Assassin's Creed', another Ubisoft property, while Tom Hardy is signed on for 'Splinter Cell'.
