Kristen Stewart may be nursing a broken heart over her break-up with long-term love Robert Pattinson, but her career appears to be on the up after it was announced that she would be starring in a new army film.
The Twilight star has reportedly signed on to appear in an upcoming military movie called Camp X-Ray, in which she will play an army officer who is sent to work at the infamous Guantanamo Bay detention camp in Cuba where she forges an unlikely friendship with a detainee.
It what sounds like the perfect role to keep her busy as she gets over her break-up with Rob, it's understood that the film will feature some hard-hitting scenes and will see Kristen 'spat on' and pelted with 'human waste' as she comes under attack for being a woman officer. Nice.
A source told Hollywood Life: "Kristen plays an army woman named Amy Cole. This role is pretty intense, as she faces some discrimination for being a woman. She gets spat on and gets human waste thrown on her. At one point, Kristen’s character has some aggressive scenes in which she kicks a guy in the gut and then hits another with her elbow."
The source also revealed that the detainee her character befriends calls her 'Blondie', so we're likely to see her dye her signature brunette hair blonde for the role, plus the film also features some intense emotional scenes that will be a huge departure from the teen-friendly Twilight franchise.
It's believed that Camp X-Ray producers are still casting for other roles for the film, with production expected to start in Los Angeles in July. Can't wait to hear more!
