Simon Pegg talks about possible role in 'Star Wars 7'.

Actor Simon Pegg has spoken about the possibility of him getting involved in 'Star Wars 7', which is being directed by his buddy J.J. Abrams.

Speaking to Digital Spy, the actor said he was eager to congratulate the man who directed him in 'Mission Impossible III', 'Star Trek' and its sequel set for release this summer.

"I've spoken to him and congratulated him but it's not written so there's no casting or anything," he said.

On possibly having a role in the film set for 2015 his answer was simple, "It just hasn't come up."

An outspoken geek, Pegg's admiration of 'Star Wars' has been clear throughout his career, particularly in TV sitcom 'Spaced' which was laden with references to George Lucas' saga.

Last year Pegg realised his dream of becoming part of the 'Star Wars' universe when he voiced bounty hunter Dengar in the animated 'Clone Wars' series.

Having brought 'Star Trek' back into the public conciousness as director of 2009's successful reboot, J.J. Abrams' appointment as 'Star Wars 7's director was always going to be a little controversial.

There has always been something of a perceived rivalry between the franchises and their fans.

However Pegg disputes whether there's actually a rivalry at all.

"I've never come across anyone who likes 'Star Trek' but hates 'Star Wars'."
