Lindsay Lohan Faces Jail For Violating Probation.

Lindsay Lohan could be sent back to jail after a Los Angeles judge revoked her probation over charges she allegedly lied to the police about a car crash.

The probation ruling was widely expected after the 26-year-old was charged last month over the crash in California, which came on the same day she was arrested over an alleged fight in a New York nightclub.

Liz & Dick star Lohan did not appear for Wednesday's brief hearing, but was represented by her lawyer.

The probation stems from the alleged 2011 theft of a necklace from a jewellery store near her home in the Venice area of Los Angeles.

The court set a date of January 15 for a hearing on the probation violation.

Lohan, who is struggling to get her life back on the rails, was charged last month with reckless driving and lying to the police about whether she was driving a Porsche that crashed into a truck on the Pacific Coast Highway in June.

She allegedly told officers she was not driving the car at the time of the crash, but police say she was the one behind the wheel.

Lohan could be sentenced to 245 days in jail if the judge determines her conduct violates the terms of her probation.

The actress was released from supervised probation in March after several months of court appearances. She also had to work as a cleaner at a morgue.
