Grey supports Dirty Dancing remake

Jennifer Grey is giving the new Dirty Dancing remake her thumbs up.

The actress - who was propelled to fame after starring opposite Patrick Swayze in the 1987 hit - is fully supporting the new version, to be directed by Kenny Ortega, who served as the choreographer for the original.

"I love @Kennyortega and trust that he will do something special #DirtyDancingRemake," she tweeted.

She also revealed that she "can't wait" to see the final product.

"I'm so excited about this news and I think there's nobody better to do this than my beloved Kenny Ortega, who is as responsible as anyone for the success of the first one," she told the Wall Street Journal.

It is thought that the new version will incorporate songs from the 1987 version - including favourites as (I've Had) The Time Of My Life, She's Like The Wind and Hungry Eyes - as well as classic tunes from the 60s and new compositions.
