New 'Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark' injury

T.V. Carpio has been forced to take a two-week hiatus from Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark after suffering an undisclosed injury.

The Broadway actress, who took over the role of Arachne from Natalie Mendoza earlier this year, will be on mandatory bed rest during the break.

"T.V. Carpio sustained an injury on Wednesday, March 16, during an on-stage battle scene with a fellow actor," said production spokesman Rick Miramontez in a statement on Tuesday.

"On doctor's orders, she will be out of the show for the next two weeks. America Olivo will be performing the role of Arachne during this time."

A source told the New York Times that Carpio's injury seemed to involve her neck, though the report has not been confirmed.

The incident is the latest in a string of difficulties that have beset the production. Director Julie Taymor left her role earlier this month and it was recently suggested that choreographer Daniel Ezralow also plans to leave the musical.
