Owen Wilson has released a statement asking for privacy after he was hospitalized on Sunday. The 38-year-old star was taken by ambulance from his home in Santa Monica, California to the emergency room at Los Angeles' St. John's Hospital at midday on Sunday.

Owen Wilson has asked to be allowed to "heal in private" following news reports he was taken to hospital in Los Angeles after a suicide attempt.

"I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time," Wilson said in a statement.

A spokeswoman at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center told the AP news agency Wilson, 38, was in a "good condition".
