Keri joins MI3


Keri Russell is to star opposite Tom Cruise in Mission : Impossible 3.

JJ Abrams who is directing the film has worked with Russell in the past on US TV series Felicity.

She will play a trainee agent who is mentored by Tom Cruise's character Ethan Hunt.

The role was intended for Scarlett Johansson reports Moviehole.net.

Tom's girlfriend Katie Holmes and Lindsay Lohan were rumoured to be taking the part.

The film begins shooting in Italy in July.
