George Clooney has upset locals by trying to buy a public beach in front of his Italian villa.

Last year Clooney, 43, was made an honorary citizen of Laglio village on Lake Como reports The Sun.

George brought chaos to the small village last year when a host of star stayed at his home, he later wrote to locals to apologise.

He added: "My greatest desire is just to live in this wonderful village."

Speaking about the public beach that George wants to buy Councillor Roberto Pozzi said: "The stretch is one of the few access points to the water."
