Nicole Kidman will star in and executive produce American Darlings alongside Jennifer Lopez.

The film is about a white female swing band that joins forces with a group of black and Hispanic musicians.

It is set in an era when women were ostracised from playing male-dominated clubs.

According to Comingsoon American Darlings tells the tale of how sex barriers were broken after President Roosevelt declared war on Japan, and the women suddenly played the biggest clubs in the country.

The film will showcase the singing voices of Lopez and Kidman.

Kidman has reportedly called on the assistance of producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron because she was a fan of Chicago, which they executive produced.

The duo are also preparing feature remakes of Guys and Dolls and Damn Yankees.
