Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003) producer Jerry Bruckheimer has reportedly won the rights to make a film version of the video game Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.
Empire Online reports the script is being worked on by the game's creator, Jordan Mechner.
Mechner says Pirates of the Caribbean was something of a template for the Prince of Persia film adaptation.
He's quoted as saying: "Rather than do a straight beat-for-beat adaptation of the new videogame, we're taking some cool elements from the game and using them to craft a new story - much as Pirates did with the theme park ride."
Prince of Persia has proved a hit on the PC and topped console charts. The game tells the story of a Prince who sets out to save his kingdom.
