Hollow Man, What Lies Beneath On Top Overseas.


The hit movies HOLLOW MAN, WHAT LIES BENEATH and ME, MYSELF AND IRENE provided some weekend (23-24SE00) cheer for overseas exhibitors squeezed by Olympic-blighted trading.

Hollow Man was anything but invisible in France and Belgium, where it stormed into the top spot with $1.9 million (£1.266m) from 557 theatres. The film also grabbed $187,000 (£124,666) to take the top spot in Switzerland.

Fox's Me, Myself And Irene laughed its way to No. 1 in the United Kingdom, with an estimated $1.1 million (£733,333) from 356 cinemas, while WB's Space Cowboys zapped into fifth, with an estimated $467,600 (£311,333) from 234 pads. New Line's FINAL DESTINATION grabbed the top spot in Germany with an estimated $1.4 million (£933,333) from 512 theatres.

Landing in third slot behind ROAD TRIPS was NUTTY PROFESSOR 2:THE KLUMPS with an estimated $547,800 (£365,200) from 534.
