Susan Sarandon And Robert Downey Jr To Appear On London Stage

Susan Sarandon and Robert Downey Jr look set to be the latest in a seemingly endless stream of Hollywood actors and actresses keen to swap the sunshine of LA for the rigours of the London stage. The hotshot pair are said to have signed up to perform in a new version of the 1934 PG Wodehouse and Cole Porter musical, Anything Goes. The musical is set on board a passenger ship travelling from New York to Southampton and Sarandon will play nightclub singer called Reno Sweeney, while Downey Jr will take the role of her love interest, the stowaway Billy Cocker. The show, which is due to open next year, features a number of famous tunes, including I Get a Kick Out of You and, of course, Anything Goes. Among those who have already made the move from Hollywood to the West End are Matt Damon, Nicole Kidman, Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna. Tobey Maguire and Leonardo DiCaprio were also recently rumoured to be coming to the London stage.
