Episode II Hits Top Spot


"Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002)," made an estimated $116.3 million in its first four days of release, its distributor Twentieth Century Fox said Sunday.

It made $30.1 million on its first day and added another $86.15 million from Friday to Sunday.
After two weeks atop the box office, "Spider-Man (2002)" slipped to No. 2 with $46.0 million - a record for a film in its third weekend, with $286.5 million banked to date, it is now on track to pass $330 million by the end of next weekend, which is the four-day Memorial Day holiday in the United States.

The Hugh Grant film About A Boy (2002), the only other major new release in America at the weekend, came in at number four with $8.4 million.
Big films opening this weekend are Spirit: Stallion of Cimarron (2002), the Al Pacino and Robin Williams thriller Insomnia (2001) and Jennifer Lopez's new film, Enough (2001).
