BAFTA Award Winners


With twelve nods each, The Lord Of The Rings and MOULIN ROUGE (2001) hoped to split the honours at BAFTA Film Awards (24th February) - but the Academy decided to honour a wider range of films. Peter JACKSON and The Lord of the Rings team took home the top prizes at this year's (2002) awards with four trophies to their name, as well as the audience-voted Orange Film Of The Year award. Moulin Rouge (2001) took home a respectable three on the night, while BEAUTIFUL MIND, a (2001) gathered acting awards for its stars.

WARREN BEATTY and film production team Merchant Ivory were both awarded the greatest accolades of the night - Academy Fellowship - given for outstanding contribution to world cinema. James Bond production company EON were given a special award to recognise 40 years of Bond movies.
