Delusional Man Ordered To Stay Away From Meg Ryan

MEG RYAN has obtained a three-year restraining order against a man who claimed to be her fiance after breaking into a house. Andrea and Tomas Ryan, who have no connection to the actress, say they discovered John MichalL Hughes in their house in Malibu on 6 January (02).

He is said to have told police that he was "waiting for Meg Ryan to come home" and had to break in, even though he was her fiance, because she "forgot to leave him the key under the doormat". Yesterday (4th February 2002) Hughes, 30, was ordered by the Santa Monica Superior Court to stay 150 yards (137 metres) away from Ryan, her family, and the house where he was found last month.

Asked by the judge if he understood why he was in court, Hughes replied, "My wife is a little upset with an incident we had a few months ago. " Ryan, 40, did not attend the hearing, which extended a temporary order imposed in January (2001). A psychiatrist hired by her lawyers testified that Hughes was patently delusional and posed a danger to Ryan's safety. The star's lawyer Michael Plonsker termed Hughes' pursuit of the actress "an unfortunate situation. "
