Kate Winslet Divorce For Sake Of Daughter Mia
Actress Kate Winslet insists her quickie divorce from hubby Jim Threapleton was done for the sake of their daughter Mia.
The Titanic (1997) star, now dating American Beauty (1999) director Sam Mendes, is desperate to clear up misconceptions about the sudden end of her marriage. She says, "Although people seem to find it hard to believe, it really was a mutual decision. It was absolutely a decision we made together because it just wasn't right anymore. "
"I think, particulary if you have a child, you have to be concerned about them and they do pick up on things and I just couldn't bear the thought that our unhappiness would result in her being unhappy, and we were both painfully aware of that. "
