Date: 20th November 2001
The first part of the LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy will be almost three hours long. Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring (2001) clocks in at an impressive two hours and 58 minutes - around half an hour longer than rival fantasy flick harry potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001).
British censorship chiefs saw the PETER JACKSON-directed film last week and have given it a PG certificate, meaning young children will be able to see it if accompanied by a parent. The move is a boost as the rival Potter film is also a PG, whereas Rings had been expected to receive a 12 certificate due to violent scenes. (BRC/WNWCAN)
