Troubled actress KATE WINSLET is set to shock husband JIM THREAPLETON by demanding a quick divorce. The couple, who married in 1998 after a whirlwind romance, separated earlier this month (begsSEP01) amid much publicity, with Jim claiming that the ENIGMA (2001) actress spent too much time working away from her family.

And according to pals, TITANIC (1997) actress Kate is adamant she will never be reconciled with her assistant director husband and has asked her lawyers to speed up the divorce process - hoping it will all be over in three months. A close friend to the Oscar nominee says,

"Kate wants to speed ahead with the divorce. She wants the first date she can to end the marriage. "

The pair married without signing a prenuptial agreement so Kate is expected to hand over $2,6 million (£2 million) of her $7. 15 million (£5. 5 million) estate. The friend adds, "Money will not be an issue. Any settlement will be quick and clean. But the good thing is Kate and Jim are still talking to each other, despite lawyers being involved.
