Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001) director KEVIN SMITH can't understand why he is being branded homophobic - because he could have been gay himself. The controversial director has infuriated the GAY AND LESBIAN ASSOCIATION AGAINST DEFAMATION (GLAAD) with his latest movie - but claims that critics have just missed the point of the film.
He says, "I know it's not homophobic. It makes jokes about gay sex. A lot of jokes about gay sex. But I think gay sex is funny. All sex is funny. We've made it quite clear that Jay has homoerotic leanings so to be accused of homophobia just hurts.
"
And the movie-maker - who has a brother who's gay - insists the only reason he's never dabbled in homosexuality himself was because he couldn't handle having to make conversation. He says, "The only reason I never dabbled when I was younger was because I wouldn't know what to say to a guy after he blew a load in my mouth. " (LE/AR/IG)
