ROBERT DOWNEY JnR has spoken out about the destruction caused by his battle with drug addiction. The troubled Hollywood star was recently sacked from hit show ALLY McBEAL after being arrested in April (01).

And the actor now says he knows the pain he has brought upon his close friends. He says,

"I've hurt so many people on my seeming path of self- destruction and that in itself is enough to make someone want to escape and hide for the rest of one's life. I'm grateful to those who have stuck by me and I'm sad about those who deserted me, although I fully understand why." (IG/TVQ/ES)
