RUSSELL CROWE is set to sing and dance his heart out with CATHERINE ZETA JONES in the film adaptation of the musical CHICAGO. The OSCAR-winning actor is hotly tipped to play smooth-talking lawyer BILLY FLYNN in the BOB FOSSE hit BROADWAY show. A film worker says,
"This is gonna be down and dirty with sassy women and sexy dances with plenty of muscle. Catherine's excited about doing it and if we land Russell it will be a bonus."
"The two stars have been chosen because of their musical ability, unlike other Hollywood stars, the two have enjoyed careers in the music field. Russell is the frontman of his Australian band THIRTY ODD FOOT OF GRUNTS, while Catherine is a failed popstar."
However the GLADIATOR (2000) star may have to fight off fellow Antipodean HUGH JACKMAN who is also up for the role of Billy. (ES/WNTMA/RP)
